Community Initiative

Family Promise understands the needs of vulnerable families. So, we offer innovative programs — such as tenancy preparation, financial literacy, and virtual career pathway training — to address them in a cost-effective, targeted approach.

Home-Home-Program

90-day shelter program to stabilize homeless families and their children with an immediate response toward needs of food, clothing, household and hygiene items. Additional services include financial assistance and donations to help the family move into their new home.

The Home-to-Home program can assists an average of 20 families a year, and includes Reaching Our Children (The ROC)  program. The ROC provides support to the youth whose families are participants of Family Promise of Montgomery County, and provides support and guidance in the four key areas of education, counseling, activity engagement, and community involvement.

Kar-Go-Program

Keeping Autos Reliable – Gas & Oil including unforeseen minor repairs,  assist our families with transportation needs; including the agency’s vehicle used to transport our families.

Donated Vehicle Program

Donated Vehicle Program (DVP) gifts donated vehicles to graduating families without transportation (families that successfully complete their stay with Family Promise of Montgomery County) when and if a vehicle is available. A valid drivers license and auto insurance are required.

Education Program

Family Promise of Montgomery County will provide resources including scholarship referral support to active and graduate families who want to pursue further education and/or obtain a certification with the goal of improving their family’s situation.

Aftercare and Outreach

Collecting school supplies for families.

Aftercare & Outreach (A&O) provides our graduate families with support toward an unforeseen crisis, additional resource and referral information, and an annual invitation to our Family Connection Event.

LEAP Program

LEAP (Literacy, Educational Advancement Program) with educational outcomes and evaluation. There will be an assessment at the initial intake of the family. This is be a collaboration for grade level subject areas, GED testing for feasibility screening for technical and certifications for career advancement. Text books, TI-30XS scientific calculators, and subject matter literate tutors. We want to ensure our families are able to obtain employment making a livable salary.
